The Coffee Press
Across from Hotel Posada Sian-Ka'an. This quaint coffee hang out serves more then just the best coffee in Playa. It is also one of the best places to have a great breakfast. A variety of entrees are offered and great local dishes are all freshly made. Try the "Motul style" eggs. A scrumptious, huge breakfast of tortillas covered with refried beans and a fried egg, smothered with tomato sauce and other goodies. This Coffee Press is a local favorite. The Hot Baking Company ~ "Hots"
Here is where you can have with your eggs or fruit breakfast, some of the best daily made pastries in Playa. The Hot Baking Company has cinnamon rolls, muffins, bagels, banana and carrot breads, brownies, and cookies. You can also taste some of the best home made bread anywhere in the world! Everything is baked on the premises and all items can be ordered to go. This place is a favorite with the locals. It's so quaint, friendly, and always ready to serve. Panchos/Frida's Restaurant/Bar
Wow! Wow! Wow! Catch the vibe! You will feel like you have lived here all your life! While amenities are usually easy to describe, ambiance is something you have to feel. At Pancho's/Frida's Quinta Avenida Restaurant/Bar, they consider atmosphere an art form. Unique intimacy in a tropical garden courtyard. Dinner and Dance. Some of the best Mayan dinning and fun off 5th avenue. This "very in" place is a favorite for locals and tourists alike. The waiters are very entertaining and the Mayan lobster and American black angus steak are on the menu, not to mention the best tiramisu in Playa! After dinner you can dance the night away! When you there, say "hola" to the charming proprietors Brenda and Jorge. Also be sure to ask Brenda and Jorge to show you some of their great dancing moves. Mil y Un Alux Restaurant & Bar
Only Spain, Cuba, and Playa del Carmen can boost of such a natural wonder. It took millions of years to open. It is a "must" experience. The restaurant offers a "Nivel Culinario" menu but the experience is one of a kind. Be sure to ask for the VIP room. Order your drinks and then have a tour. Have them share some of the many tales of the Alux. If you look real close, you might see the Alux's (little elves) and don't forget to tell them their amigo, the Tude Dude sent you.

Cozumel
Sail, snorkel, and party the day on a 65 foot catamaran called the "FURY." The beautiful island of Cozumel is just a 30 minute ferry ride from Playa del Carmen. Trip fee includes snorkel equipment, ice cold drinks, and fun on a private beach.
Chankanaab Nature Park
The popular Chankanaab Nature Park. A wonderful snorkeling experience. Some of the best scuba diving also can be done in Chankanaab Reef & Palancar Reef, both of which are in Cozumel. Spend the whole day! |

Yal-Ku' Lagoon
Along the beach corridor approximately 24 miles South of Playa del Carmen (located in North Akumal) is beautiful Yal-Ku' Lagoon, which is great for snorkeling. You will be drawn back to this lagoon, which meets the ocean many, many times again. Apparently, Ernest Hemmingway had a home over looking the Yal-Ku' Lagoon. The lagoon is open everyday and there is a small entrance fee. |

Tulum Ruins
Located approximately 38 miles south of Playa del Carmen, the ruins of Tulum sit dramatically on top of a steep cliff. Overlooking the magnificent turquoise-blue Caribbean Ocean, the spectacular view is mesmerizing. Tulum is the only walled city the Maya ever built on the Caribbean Coast. It is best to request a tour guide for an excursion of the ruins and remember to bring good comfortable shoes, bottled water, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. Tulum Ruins are open all week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and are free on Sundays. |

Xcaret
Located approximately 4 miles South of Playa del Carmen, Xcaret is more than just a Eco-archaeological park! The park has many features: famous cenotes (underground rivers) offer a surreal and thrilling float past ancient coral, natural inlet for swimming, snuba, scuba, snorkeling, full of tropical fish, dolphins, turtle farms, butterfly pavilion, Mayan Village, horse rides and at night, and one of the most "spectacular performances, spectacular show" in the theater where ancient history comes alive! A must see and experience! An all day and night excursion. Xcaret is open Monday to Sunday 8:30 am to 10:00 pm. During winter season from November to March, the park closes at 9:00 pm. There is an entrance fee. |

Isla Mujeres
Isla Muheres is approximately 45 miles North of Playa del Carmen (from the Puerto Juarez passenger ferry). To get there, take the five mile ferry ride to the beautiful quaint town of Isla Mujeres. This is a picturesque island village. Also, visit North Beach and enjoy Garrafon Marine Park. Golf cart rentals are available to explore this island. |
